Open Graph Checker

Inspect social metadata and generate tags.

Live lookup

Open Graph tags tell social platforms what title, description and image to show when a link is shared. This reads the tags a page publishes and shows the preview they produce, or generates a correct set when they are missing.

How Open Graph Checker works

What it does

Inspect social metadata and generate tags.

What you get

Published social preview metadata or generated Open Graph tags.

Live data sources

The target is sent to a network provider. Results include their source; timeouts and unavailable data are clearly marked.

What if a check cannot finish?

Confirm your input and try again. A timeout, blocked request, or unavailable provider is not proof that a domain is broken. Internet measurements and third-party services have limits.

Open Graph Checker — frequently asked questions

What size should the og:image be?

1200×630 pixels, under about 5 MB, served over HTTPS at an absolute URL. Smaller images get cropped or downgraded to a small thumbnail.

I updated my tags but the old preview still shows. Why?

Platforms cache aggressively. Use the platform's own debugger — Facebook's Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn's Post Inspector — to force a re-scrape.

Do I need Twitter Card tags as well as Open Graph?

X falls back to Open Graph for most fields, so a complete OG set usually suffices. Add twitter:card only when you want a specific card type.
